Gorey J2's Move Into Joint Second Place With A Game In Hand

Gorey J2 continued their good run with an emphatic win over Carlow on a score of 34 - 12 in Carlow on Sunday.

Gorey started well and were fast out of the blocks and after some great work from the forwards and quick ball through the backs, Eoin Walsh went over in the corner.

Soon the visitors were back on the attack again when Garry Rynhart latched onto a Clinton Furney pass to outstrip the Carlow cover to run in under the posts for Furney to convert.

Carlow started to put phases together and scored a well-worked try, which they converted. Gorey responded well and were soon back on the attack when James Freeney went over under the posts to take the score to 19 - 7.

The bonus point came from a great break by Killian Breen who off-loaded for Scrumhalf Alex Rowley to score under the posts.

Carlow managed to score another try just before halftime to leave the score at 26 - 12.

The second half started with another try for the visitors when Killian Breen kicked through and outpaced the winger to score in the corner.

The game became a bit scrappy after this as Gorey took the foot off the accelerator and Carlow tried hard to get back into the game. A further Clinton Furney penalty wrapped up the scoring.

Best for Gorey in a lively pack were James Freeney, Eoin Walsh and Killian Breen, while Alex Rowley, Clinton Furney and Sean Byrne were the pick of a very strong back line.
