GOREY J2s DRAW WITH MALAHIDE 

Gorey J2s secured a good away 10 - 10 draw against a very strong  Malahide on Sunday last.

On a dry but very cold day for rugby, the home team were to draw first blood as both sides  missed early chances.

Good work by the Malahide pack saw them go over for a well worked try, which they converted.

The Gorey response was swift and good  pressure on the Malahide fullback saw him spill the ball for Colin French to gather and go over for to level the score which was converted by Glen Leeson.

The second half was a tough encounter as both sides traded blows with both defences standing up to everything the other could throw at them. A penalty each was all either side could score in the second half, for the game to end all square.

Gorey probably should and could have won but on the day a draw was probably a fair result. Gorey had some big performers from Colin French, Kenneth O Rourke and Conor Owley the pick of the forwards while Johnny Sykes, John Mannion and Glen Leeson showed well in the backs.
