Gorey J2 win away in Birr

Gorey J2 made the long journey to Birr and after an exciting game came away with a bonus point win to secure the runner up spot in their Leinster league.

Gorey had raced into a 27 10 lead with tries from brothers Phil and Paul Swaine Karl Coates and a cracking individual try from Niall Brohan on his first game for the Seniors Birr were reluctant to put up the white flag and in an eight minute spell shocked Gorey to score three tries to lead 29 27with minutes on the clock.

Gorey somehow managed to work their way back into the Birr half and were awarded a penalty,up stepped fullback Glen Gleeson to cooly slot over for the winning score. Gorey had some big performances from Ray Byrne Paul Swaine and Bernard Maguire in the forwards and a lively backline saw Glen Gleeson Carl Coates and Niall Brohan shine on an ideal day for rugby.
