Gorey 70   Thurles 0

The Gorey Under-18 girls were confident heading into the much-anticipated match against Munster's finest, Thurles, on Saturday week last.

Lauren Farrell set the pace from the outset with a fine individual try under the posts.
After kick-off, several phases and quick hands allowed Aoife Brown to break the Thurles defence to secure the second score. Maeve Farrell (capt.) extended the lead to 12-0 with a great conversion.
Gorey spirits were high and it wasn't long until they were in the opposition's half once more, as Alix Doyle eluded several defenders to reach the try line and bring Gorey to a 17-point lead. The conversion was narrowly missed.
Thurles' strong resistance was crashed once more as Aoife Brown fought to add to Gorey's compelling lead. The conversion dropped short.

Soon after, Kathryn Blood won a Thurles line-out and stormed through the defence and, with a strategic off-load to Julie O'mahony, Gorey's lead was increased.
Bríd Kavanagh showed incredible pace and stamina and dodged several despairing tackles before flashing a long pass to winger India Mcgirr who finished with a lengthy run from halfway to bring Gorey to 32-0. Scrum-half Lauren Farrell managed two more points with an outstanding kick.

Just before half-time Gorey were awarded a penalty on the Thurle '22. Lauren Farrell took a quick tipoff and burst through many bewildered Thurles defenders. A snappy pop to Caitlin Crowe cracked Thurles' defence to give Gorey their seventh try. Lauren Farrell converted to close the half.
Gorey had a comfortable 41-point lead entering the second-half, but now faced a strong wind in their faces. The Thurles team was determined but the Gorey pack made a swift impact with a break from Áine Ní Scannail and a try from Kathryn Blood.
Aoife Farrell cemented Gorey's dominance once more with a fierce run and a strong try. Maeve Farrell brought Gorey's advance to 48-0.

Helena Hobbs took quick ball and broke several despairing tackles, securing position deep into Thurles' half. Bríd Kavanagh deceived many defenders once more, stealing precious yards.
A quick pass to Helena Hobbs avoided contact and a hasty off-load to first centre Chloe Breen saw Gorey under the posts. Aoife Farrell blitzed the Munster pack and with immense strength breached the Thurles try line. Lauren Farrell converted.
Gorey now led 60-0, and Clodagh Dunne's screen pass reached Maeve Bolger who dived to the line.
Alix Doyle breached the defence, acquiring her second try which Lauren Farrell converted.
