Gorey J2s finish of their season on a high.   08/03/2015

The Gorey J2 team completed their league fixtures at Carlow last Sunday. Both teams were out of contention in the league and had nothing other than pride to play for. Gorey set out their stall early after veteran Jason Emery put Shane O Leary through for the first try for Clinton Furney to convert. Gorey kept the pressure up but found Carlow hard to break down and it took until the 25 minute for Ken Rothwell to score try number twoagain, Furney converted to take the score to 14 - 0, that was how it stayed until halftime.

The second half saw Gorey go on a bit of try scoring spree with Ian Horan rounding a fine move with the backs and forwards showing good handling skills.
The ever elusive Jack Cleary was next in on the act as he rounded off another cracking Gorey move. Try number five saw Clinton Furney put through the gap and he raced from the halfway line to score under the posts. The last try went to man of the match Eoin Walsh who crashed over after again some great inter passing between the backs. This was the only conversion for Clinton Furney to miss and left the final score at 40 - 7 with a late try awarded to Carlow after good work by their pack. Best for Gorey, in a great team performance, were Kenneth Rothwell, Jason Emery and Jonathan Reynolds in the pack with Shane Rafferty, Clinton Furney and man of the match Eoin Walsh the pick of the backs.
