Gorey RFC Seniors continue their winning start to the season
6th Oct '14
Gorey RFC Seniors continued their winning start to the season, in Div
1B of the Leinster League, with a 41 to 12 win over Tullow on Sunday
last
Tullow kicked off and immediately
Gorey went on the attack and, after some good work by the forwards, a
slick pass from out half Shane Luby allowed Darren Dunne slice through the
Tullow defence for the opening try. Tullow responded well and from the
next attack scored a well earned try. This seem to kick start Gorey with
Darren Dunne scoring his second try for Shane Luby to convert. A try
from Nevil Copeland and two Fergal Bolger tries saw Gorey stretch their
lead to 29 to 5 at halftime.
The second half started with a
John Condren intercept to run under the posts. Tullow worked their way
into the Gorey 22 and after some sustained pressure the referee awarded a
penalty try to Tullow to take the score to 37 to 12. Gorey continued to
attack and a flowing move saw Killian Breen run in under the posts to
take the score to 41 12 to leave the large Gorey support thrilled with
the final result. Gorey had some outstanding performers in the pack with
Jeff Dunne, Ciaran Allen and JP Redmond the pick. Neville Copeland,
Darren Dunne and John Condren were the pick of a lively back line.
