GOREY J2s HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A DRAW

Gorey J2S were at home to Kilkenny in their Leinster League fixture on Saturday.

In ideal conditions Gorey started well and within three minutes had an Aidan O'Brien penalty on the board.

The visitors weren’t long in replying as Gorey coughed up a penalty from the restart.

Gorey kept the pressure up and should have added to their tally but gave away a penalty with the line beckoning.

They made up for that miss minutes later when a sweeping move saw Joe Naughton cross for a fine try, Aidan O Brien converted.

Kilkenny settled and on 20 minutes put points on the board with a penalty.

Just before halftime Jason Rothwell crossed for a try to take the score to 15 - 3 with minutes left in the half.

The second half saw Kilkenny take the game to Gorey and two quick tries had them right back in the game at 15 all.

The game was nip and tuck for the remainder of the half with a penalty each leaving both sides level at full time.

Gorey had some good performances in the backs with Joe Naughton, Jack Willougby and Jason Rothwell the pick. Ben Horan, Cameron Reynolds and Stanley Hadden performed well in the forwards.

The next game for Gorey is a home fixture on Saturday October 13th with a 1.30 kick off.
